Veganism is a lifestyle that has been recently gaining much popularity among people. This lifestyle abstains people from deploying any animal based products in their life. People following veganism abstain themselves from eating meat, dairy products and any by products obtained from animals. Although this lifestyle is extremely exacting still we can see a considerable increase in the number of people who are going vegan. The main reasons why more people than ever are going vegan are explained below.
Vegan diet predominantly consists of plant-based products such as fruits, vegetables. So this is a very healthy lifestyle as plant based products are a rich source of anti oxidants and fiber, contrary to this, animal based products are highly enriched with saturated fat and trans fat. People following veganism are less likely to fall for heart diseases, diabetes and even blood pressure problems. Although avoiding meat arises a question of protein deficiency but there are certain plant based proteins like lentils, oatmeal, broccoli, avocado, lima beans and many more which can serve the purpose of protein intake in your vegan diet. Health benefits are one of the main reasons why more people are adopting veganism.
Sustainability Of The Environment:
Sustainability of the environment is a very prominent reason of more people embracing veganism. As animal products require more resources and more energy to be produced and plant based products require much less energy and resources then meat products. Green gas emission omitted during the procedure of making animal based products is twice as much as when making plant based products. A mainstream rise in the green movement has been observed recently which is why more people are now going vegan in order to sustain the resources of the environment.
Some people also embrace veganism just to stay fit. As a research shows that people who highly depend upon omnivorous diet tend to gain more weight as compared to those who follow an herbivorous diet. In addition to this people who follow a vegan lifestyle can loose those extra pounds more easily as compared to those who consume meat-based products.
Increase In Global Food Demand:
It has been claimed that the world population will increase up to 2 billion by the time of 2050. So it means that sooner there will be a shortage of food as water resources are declining day by day due to the environmental changes. Almost seventy percent of the water available is used for agricultural purposes and raising animal based food products demand almost ten times more water in contradiction to plant based food production. So the increasing demand of food worldwide is making people fall for veganism.
